Troubleshooting and FAQ

Can I undo a clean-up? No. Confluence does not keep deleted versions. Use the preview, start with a generous policy (for example keep 20 versions older than 180 days), and tighten it later.

The preview says nothing would be deleted. Check that: - the pages have more versions than the number you keep, - the older versions are older than your minimum age (set it to 0 to ignore age), - the right spaces are selected (empty means every space).

Some pages were skipped by the nightly clean-up. Pages restricted to named people are not visible to apps. Run Preview and the clean-up as an admin who can see those pages.

Some versions could not be deleted. The result line shows how many. This usually means the admin running the clean-up does not have permission on that page. Run it again as an admin with access.

Does this free up storage straight away? Confluence updates its storage figure on its own schedule, usually within a few hours.

Why do version numbers change? Confluence renumbers the remaining versions after older ones are deleted. The content of each remaining version does not change.

Does Pruner send data anywhere? No. It runs on Atlassian Forge and makes no calls outside Atlassian. See the privacy policy.
