Get started
You need to be a Confluence admin to use Pruner.
1. Open Pruner
Confluence → Settings (gear icon) → Apps → Pruner.
2. Set the policy
- Keep the newest versions of each page and attachment: for example 10. The newest versions are never deleted.
- Only delete versions older than: for example 90 days. Use 0 to ignore age.
- Spaces: pick the spaces to clean up, or leave it empty for every space.
- Include attachment versions: on by default. Turn it off to clean up page history only.
- Select Save.
3. Preview
Select Preview. Pruner checks every page in the chosen spaces and shows: - how many old page versions and attachment versions the policy would delete, - how much storage those attachment versions use, - the pages with the most old versions.
Nothing is deleted at this step. Change the policy and preview again until you are happy with the result.
4. Clean up
Tick I understand that deleted versions cannot be restored, then select Delete … old versions. Keep the page open until the clean-up finishes; the result appears below the button.
5. Nightly clean-up (optional)
Turn on Apply this policy every night and select Save. Pruner then applies the same policy once a day. See How it works for what the nightly clean-up can and cannot reach.
