Privacy policy: Group Watchers
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains what data the app “Group Watchers for Confluence” (the app), published by Kayabyte, the trading name of Caner Kaya, Stasjonsveien 64, Oslo, Norway, processes when it is installed on an Atlassian Cloud site.
What the app does
The app makes the members of chosen Confluence groups watch chosen spaces or pages, and keeps that in step as group membership changes. Rules are set by a Confluence admin.
Data the app stores
The app stores only the following, in Atlassian Forge hosted storage on the customer’s Atlassian site: - Rules: the IDs and names of the chosen groups, and the key and name of the chosen space or the ID and title of the chosen page. - For each chosen space or page, the Atlassian account IDs of group members and a short state: whether the app added their watch, they were already watching, they unwatched after the app added them, or they could not see the space or page (with the time this was last checked). This lets the app avoid adding people back after they unwatch and avoid removing watches it did not add. - Counts from the last sync and for each rule (watches added and removed, people skipped).
The app does not store names, email addresses, page content or any other personal data.
Data the app reads but does not store
To do its job, the app reads group names and members, space and page names, and whether a person watches a space or page, through Atlassian’s APIs. This data is used during processing and is not kept beyond what is listed above.
Where data is processed
All processing happens on Atlassian’s Forge platform. The app makes no calls to servers outside Atlassian, and no data is sent to Kayabyte or to any third party.
Retention and deletion
Stored data is kept while the app is installed. Entries for a person are deleted when they are no longer in any group of any rule for that space or page and the app has finished removing the watch it added, if any. Once a week the app reports the account IDs it stores to Atlassian’s personal data reporting service, as Atlassian requires, and deletes its entries for any account that has been closed. When the app is uninstalled, its Forge storage is deleted by Atlassian in line with Atlassian’s Forge data retention rules. Customers can also ask us to confirm deletion by contacting support.
Logs
For troubleshooting, the app writes operational logs on the Forge platform containing counts, API status codes and endpoint names, with IDs and keys left out. These logs are kept by Atlassian under its Forge log retention rules.
