Get started

You need to be a Confluence admin to set up Group Watchers.

1. Open Group Watchers

Confluence → Settings (gear icon) → Apps → Group Watchers.

2. Add a rule

  1. Groups: search for and pick one or more groups, for example a team.
  2. Watch: choose A whole space to cover all its pages and blog posts, or A single page.
  3. Pick the space, or type part of the page title and pick the page.
  4. Select Add rule.

Group Watchers starts adding the members as watchers straight away. The rule shows its status when the first sync finishes, usually within a minute.

3. Check the status

Each rule shows: - how many members its groups have, - how many watchers Group Watchers added, - how many members were already watching, - how many members unwatched after the app added them (they are not added back), - how many members cannot see the space or page (they are skipped).

4. Keep it in sync

Nothing else to do. Group Watchers checks group membership every hour. Use Sync now to check immediately, for example right after changing a group.

Removing a rule

Select Remove next to the rule. Confirm with Remove. With Remove watches when people leave switched on (the default), the watches the app added are removed, except for people another rule for the same space or page still includes. Watches people already had always stay.
