Get started
You need to be an admin of the Jira Service Management project to change its rules. Agents can use the manual action without any setup.
1. Open the settings
Project settings → Apps → Group participants.
2. Add a rule
- Under Request types, pick the request types the rule applies to. Leave it empty to apply the rule to every request type in the project.
- Under Groups to add, search for and pick one or more Jira groups.
- Add more rules if different request types need different groups.
- Select Save.
From now on, every new request that matches a rule gets the groups’ members as participants within a few seconds.
3. Bring existing open requests in line (optional)
Select Sync open requests now. The app adds the groups’ members to open requests that match your rules and shows the result below the button.
4. Choose how groups stay in sync
- Keep open requests in step with group membership (on by default): every hour, people who joined a group since the last check are added to matching open requests.
- Also remove people who leave a group (off by default): people who left a group are removed from matching open requests. Leave this off if agents also add some of the same people by hand.
Adding a group by hand
On any request: Actions → Add group as participants → pick groups → Add participants. This runs with the agent’s own permissions, so Jira Service Management’s normal rules on who may add participants apply.
